Madaa Creative Center / Silwan organizes weekly training for Aikido for male and female children. Aikido is an art of traditional Japanese martial arts. It teaches the person how to protect himself from any aggressive assault without fighting the aggressor.
Coordinator of Madaa Center at its main branch, Hanadi Al-Abbasi quoting the coach of Aikido said: “Aikido is a non-violent sport that can control the opponent without harming him/her or destroying his/her spirits due to its circular movements and the attack to the ground.”
She added: “Aikido is especially excellent for children, it can be taught to both males and females, it trains the body and mind together, through Aikido children develop their physical strength, their movements become clear and elegant and they gain a good body posture. In addition to that, Aikido teaches children how to deal with their feelings, through healthy breathing exercises, which help to tone up a quiet personality and increase their ability to focus. All these elements are deeply embedded in the non-violent Aikido philosophy and become a fundamental concern for children throughout their lives.
