Under the title “A Child Not a Wife”, Madaa Creative Center – Ein Al Loza branch-Silwan – organized a workshop for women in cooperation with the Center for Women's Studies. About 20 women participated in the meeting.
The workshop included a discussion between the lecturer Aida Al Issawi and the women; she gave them information about early marriage in terms of what it is and its percentage in the city, where it has exceeded 40% this year in the city of Jerusalem. She also explained its causes, the most prominent of which was the poor economic situation of the parents, the effects of early marriage, and how to reduce it in our society.
The women shared their experiences; there were three women in the audience who had experienced early marriage. They were unable to complete their education despite their will and desire to learn. The women said they would not make their daughters live the same experience.
