Mada Creative Center, in cooperation with “Deir” Foundation, organized a workshop to educate women about breast cancer; more than one hundred and twenty women from the town of Silwan and the different villages of Jerusalem participated.
The workshop featured a film entitled “My Journey”, which tells stories of women who developed breast cancer and how they received help and support from their families until they overcame it. Two women who have been infected with the disease, one from the village of Silwan and the other from Sur Baher, shared their experience with the participating women who asked them questions to benefit from their experience. Nurse Ola Samarin presented information on “breast cancer”from a medical perspective, and focused on the importance of self-examination in the early detection of the disease, which increases the chance of recovery.
The vice principal of Madaa Center, Sahar Al Abassi stated that: “mothers were honored differently today. A woman cannot play her role as a mother if she does not take care of her health first, she should put the weight of life aside and care about her health above all, our example was “breast cancer” since it has become a widespread phenomenon among women, and it is very important to educate them about it.”
