Madaa Creative Center recently opened its eighth summer camp “I love you Silwan 8”, in the court of Wadi Hilweh.
Majd Gaith, the coordinator of the summer camp explained that the number of participants this year reached up to 250 boys and girls between the ages (6-15 years), from all neighborhoods of the city of Jerusalem.
Gaith explained that the activities of the camp have been divided into morning and evening activities. The morning activities are mostly composed of teaching children the art of mosaics, arts, sports and music, in addition to the leader’s activities, and tours of Wadi Hilweh neighborhood especially Ein Silwan, and tours of the Old City of Jerusalem including the Islamic and Christian sanctities, quarters, and alleys. These tours are made to familiarize children with these landmarks. The evening activities include clown shows, inflatable games, Sanabel Theater, and a variety of contests.
Gaith said that a trip for the children of the camp will be organized before Ramadan. He explained that the annual participation in the camp is free of charge in light of the difficult economic conditions experienced by the Jerusalemite families. Their aim is to include a greater number of children who would be able to spend the summer holidays usefully.
Gaith added that Madaa Center will organize Ramadan evenings during the holy month.
