The summer game activities have launched this morning in Wadi Hilweh neighborhood in Silwan. Madaa Creative center organized activities for children in particular throughout their school summer vacation, and at the end of the holiday the center organized a week of Summer Games which include games and activities that are entertaining and purposeful for children. These activities will end with a mass ceremony in the Protest Tent in Wadi Hilweh neighborhood. The Protest Tent was raised in 2008 because of the spending and settlement policy and it turned into a meeting point for a large section of the people of Silwan.
The Summer Games are held for the fifth consecutive year under the supervision of Madaa Creative Center under the slogan “I love you Silwan”, and that is to emphasize the right to stay in Silwan. It is reported that the people of Silwan whose population reaches up to 55,000 inhabitants more than 70% of them live below the poverty line and pay taxes to the Israeli authorities, but the Israeli authorities do not provide any services to the Palestinians in return, especially in Wadi Hilweh neighborhood which is targeted by Elad Association settlement.
