Historical Gallery
For centuries Silwan was the center of rural life around the old city of Jerusalem. Groves of citrus and olives washed the valley with many colors and fragnances. Pilgrims gathered around the Silwan spring, where they socialised and shared adventures and gossip with the local residents who lived in stone houses on the mountainside.
The following gallery is the most comprehensive collection of photos, some dating back to the 19th century, that were taken mainly in Silwan, and some from the Mount of Olives or Sheikh Jarah.

Prints
Since Madaa is a nonprofit organization, we do not sell prints of these photos. Also, some photos have copyrights protection which cannot be located. However, there are some photos which are available for print, and we recommend a donation of 75 Euro (400 NIS/120 $) to receive a photo specially printed in high resolution on hardened material and be sent to you as appreciation for your donation.
