Silwan Ta'azef Music School

Since October 2007, weekly music lessons are given by professional musicians to the children of Silwan. The school offers an introductory course to music for children ages 4-12, and group instrumental lessons to children and youth.

School year 2009-2010

In 2009-2010 school year, we offer lessons in piano, guitar, oud, darbuka/tabla and daf, violin, and cello. The instruments are acquired with donation money, and the children are allowed to take them home to practice.

This year (2009-2010), about 110 children participate in the different music lessons.

School year 2008-2009

In school year 2008-2009 we started to teach music instruments (piano, darbuka, oud, guitar and cello) to about 35 children, most of them have participated in the first preparatory year of 2007-2008.

History

The music school opened its doors in October 2007 to 30 children who studied general music education and tried out various instruments throughout the year.

Until June 2009, the music school was sponsored by Music in Me (www.musicinme.net).
