With the participation of dozens of children from Silwan, Madaa Center celebrated Adha Holiday in its three branches: (Wadi Hilweh- Ein Al Loza- and Batn Al Hawa).
The activities varied between cultural and artistic activities in celebrating the Holy holiday to spread joy and put a smile on the faces of the children.
In Wadi Hilweh branch several days before the Eid the children participated in the activity of recycling toilet paper rolls, making lamb shapes and decorating them with cotton to simulate lamb wool. Each child shaped his/her lamb according to their taste. The next day was the celebration of Eid, where the staff welcomed dozens of children and talked to them about the rituals of the holiday and the story of Eid Al-Adha. A child told the story of Eid Al-Adha, and then the children chanted the takbeers of the Eid. The staff spoke with the children about the rituals of Hajj, and the children walked around the model of the Kaaba which they made with their own hands. The celebration ended with the distribution of sweets and gifts to the children.
As for Ein Al Loza branch, activities lasted for a week in preparation for Eid Al-Adha. They held multiple activities, where they made shapes of sheep from paper cups to decorate their homes and rooms. The creative children also made greeting cards, each card carried a greeting phrase and the children gave them to their families. To welcome the Eid, the children decorated the center with balloons, a lamb figure and a model of the Kaaba. The staff celebrated with the children by playing, having fun, and face painting the children, they also chanted Eid songs and Takbeers.
At Batn Al Hawa branch the children made Eid candy bags from felt and cloth, and each child put some sweets inside and gave them to his family. The staff spoke with the children about their preparations for the Eid and explained its rituals to them. The children made a simple handmade sheep out of cardboard and cotton as well as a model of the Kaaba from cardboard, and were listening to Eid takbeers and tahleel during those activities.
These activities were carried out within the preventive measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus where the staff and children committed to wearing masks, and continuously sterilized surfaces and their hands, and they were social distancing. The staff explained to the children the importance of following preventative measures in order to protect themselves.
